 Tech-enabled social work

In social work education, it is blended or hybrid learning, using multiple technologies (e.g., interactive video and online media) in delivering courses and programs, and policies and practices that support the practical use of technology.

In social work practice, it is the use of Big Data and blockchain for social policy and other areas of macro practice; the adoption of electronic patient/client records, electronic practice management systems, and AI-enabled data analytics in mezzo practice; and clinical use-cases for IoT, AI, automation, VR/AR, and VUI (e.g., the use of voice in tracking patient outcomes and conditioning patient compliance, the use of a digital avatar in counseling, the use of VR/AR in exposure-based therapy) in micro practice.

Each of us asking practice and research questions on whether the use of technology could enhance client outcomes -- this is the important step. Daring to re-imagine our field for the Information Age -- this is the important journey of our generation.
